Call for Participation in the GASPOUT Study
The GASPOUT Study (Global Assessment of Spontaneous Pneumothorax: Outcomes and Treatment) is a prospective, multicentre, international observational study designed to address the current evidence gap.
About the Study
Coordinated by the Pediatric Surgery Unit of the Azienda Ospedaliera Universitaria Integrata (AOUI) of Verona, Italy, this project aims to create the largest contemporary, global cohort of patients presenting with their first episode of spontaneous pneumothorax.
Importantly, this is a non-interventional, purely observational study. It will not alter routine clinical practice at participating sites.
Data Collection
Data will be collected during predefined 2-week periods over a total duration of 6 months from May 4, 2026 to November 15, 2026, allowing for a structured yet feasible data collection process.
All patient data entered into the central database will be fully anonymized, while each participating centre maintains a secure local linkage file in compliance with data protection regulations.
Authorship
Authorship will be granted for datasets that are complete and meet predefined quality standards.
Study Scope
This study focuses on spontaneous pneumothorax and is designed to improve understanding of outcomes and treatment patterns across different healthcare settings worldwide.
